AQUARIUM SCIENCE CENTER

OREGON COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Newport, Oregon

Located at the OCCC Central Campus site, the Aquarium Science facility is one of only a few programs in the nation that teaches aquarium science and marine animal husbandry. The facility includes an animal health/water quality lab, a food preparation lab, a culture lab, a teaching lab, as well as an animal holding room. The building is systems intensive with salt water and freshwater distribution systems and tanks, back-up power systems, and careful temperature and humidity controls, all aimed at supporting the aquariums and labs. Durable and cleanable surfaces were selected, and transparency between spaces allows for collaboration and observation throughout the facility.
