With campus locations in Newport, Lincoln City, and Waldport, Oregon Coast Community College offers degrees in business and accounting, aquarium science, nursing and allied health, and education. Nestled in a wooded site near the Yaquina Bay, the Central Campus facility is home to the majority of the college’s academic programs and administrative areas. Instruction spaces include classrooms, science and allied health skills labs, lecture and community rooms, offices, conference rooms, a bookstore, and a large student commons with an adjacent kitchen.

The project achieved LEED® Silver certification through a variety of strategies. Connections to nature and ample access to daylight help to promote occupant over-all well-being. The exposed glulam trusses and wood decking link the interior spaces with surrounding forest. Tall windows frame views, providing rooms with daylight and natural ventilation while minimizing reliance on mechanical air conditioning and the need for electric lights. During heavy weather events, rainwater runoff is captured, stored, and then slowly released to prevent erosion.
