NORTHERN OPERATIONS CENTER

CENTRAL LINCOLN PUD
Newport, Oregon

Relocating the utility’s operations from the South Beach Operations Center, the Northern Operations Center is a 69,880 square foot facility built on an 11 acre site outside the tsunami hazard zone to the seismic standards (Category III-IV) of an essential facility. The project included the renovation of an existing warehouse building, in addition to a new tilt-up concrete operations building and a new wood-framed wire shed/equipment storage shed.

The primary objective was to construct a facility that could be operational immediately after a major seismic event in order to expedite the regional rebuilding efforts. Core concepts identified include resiliency, durability, low maintenance, common-sense sustainability, site and data security, and flexible, efficient use of space.
