This 80,000 square foot facility is the primary campus for Oregon Coast Community College. Completed in the summer of 2009, it serves the central Oregon coast from its wooded site in Newport. The project achieved LEED Silver certification through a variety of energy and resource saving strategies. Natural ventilation systems provide cooling with minimal reliance on mechanical air conditioning. Day lighting through tall windows limits the need for electric lights. Rainwater runoff is captured and stored during heavy rain events and released slowly to prevent erosion.
