Prairie Mountain K-8 School
This 125,000 s.f. K-8 building complex includes an elementary wing and core area, which opened in 2002, and a two-story middle school wing, which opened in 2004. Throughout, the building promotes different ways to learn; with spaces for individualized instruction, large elementary classrooms surrounding a common area for shared learning and fun/active learning spaces outside in the play fields and wetlands. The core includes administrative offices, a kitchen, two gymnasiums, a caforium, and music rooms. The middle school wing is a different learning experience, with self-contained classrooms and specialized "subject" rooms for art, science, and video instruction. Both middle and elementary wings have state-of-the-art media centers and computer labs. In fact, the entire campus succeeds as a total learning environment.
