CRESWELL MIDDLE SCHOOL

Creswell School District
Creswell, Oregon

The Creswell Middle School replacement facility was built on the same site as the
68-year-old school building that it replaced. After entering through a dynamic arched entry reminiscent of the original 1941 structure, brick columns visually draw occupants to the double-height cafeteria, which is at the heart of the school. The cafeteria is flanked on the east and west by two-story clustered classroom wings with administration offices to the north and a music room and large double gymnasium to the south. Classrooms are organized around open flex areas adjacent to welcoming stairways that connect the ground floor and second floor levels to both sides of the building.

Corner windows and relites throughout provide spaces with daylight from two sides, balancing out daylight distribution and reducing glare. Layers of views both inside and outside open up around every corner.
