NOAA MARINE OPERATIONS CENTER - PACIFIC

PORT OF NEWPORT | LEED Silver®

Newport, Oregon

Providing support to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Pacific Fleet, the Pacific Marine Operations Center is located along the south side of the Yaquina Bay in Newport, Oregon. The facility includes a two-story administration building, a warehouse, a hazardous material storage building, and a guard building, in addition to a 1,300-foot-long wharf. GLAS was the architect for the LEED Silver certified office and warehouse buildings, as well as site improvements. KPFF of Portland was responsible for design of marine structures, as well as civil and structural engineering.

The office building program includes space for a command suite, health services, museums/archives, shared lunch and conference rooms, in addition to office space for marine and engineering personnel branches. Over 90% of the occupied spaces in the building provide employees with exterior views while low office cubicles help maintain direct lines of sight to perimeter glazing.
